I’m a Spartan for Life. I love to write, cook and play with technology.

I grew up in a small farm town. I went from a high school class of 26 to a freshman class of 7,000 at Michigan State University. MSU opened up a world of opportunity for me. It was exciting and I loved every minute of it.

As an English major, I took an elective class called “Visual Rhetoric” that completely changed the way I thought about writing. I started to learn about web design, graphic design and multimedia. This led me to pursue a Master of Arts degree in Digital Rhetoric and Professional Writing. I graduated in 2006 and have been working full-time ever since.

Besides the occasional blog post on this site, I also write a monthly food column on Insist On Awesome. You’ll also find posts about professional writing, editing and design over at beyondwords.

You can also follow me on Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram.
